Although debate in the Congress is on-going, it is clear that changes will be made and that employer sanctions will be increased and enforced. Companies must be fully informed and responsive to these changes as they occur.
Attorney Wilson’s seminar to the Manchester HR Association members explained the procedures and legal considerations for companies who employ foreign workers.
He discussed the recent proposed changes in the I-9 compliance process, the proposed Temporary Worker Program, and highlighted the core of the immigration debate in Congress. Mr. Wilson also discussed the various professional employment based visas available to international employees, both non-immigrant (J-1, H1-B, E, L, TN) and immigrant visa (Green card) options. He also addressed the recent changes (PERM Regulations) implemented by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and the Department of Homeland Security, and clarified how these changes affect today’s corporations.
