Immigration Law: One year after 9/11 September 27, 2002 Where: National Human Resources Association, Rochester, NY
No other legal landscape has been affected more than Immigration Law post 9/11. Emergency legislation has passed restricting the movement of non-U.S. citizens, increased scrutiny of students and foreign workers in the U.S. and those abroad at U.S. Consulates is now commonplace, and the future promises closer review of all current and potential foreign workers. Foreign workers and their employers are greatly affected by these changes and HR personnel must be aware of and understand its impact. Mr. Wilson will provide an update of changes in Immigration Law as it affects the employer and will also discuss employment options for the foreign employee, including temporary work authorization (H, L and E visas) and permanent resident status (green card).
